Qigong is an ancient Chinese system of exercises designed to build and protect our vital energy. It was developed by martial artists, monks, hermits and healers over two thousand years in China. Today many styles of Qigong are practiced worldwide to reduce stress and improve general health. Qigong can be translated from Chinese as ‘life-energy cultivation’. Qi means ‘life-energy’ and Gong means ‘work’, so Qigong works to build healthy energy.
Throughout the classes student learns how to open the five main energy channels of the body, to clear blockages and stagnation on the physical, mental or emotional levels. Internal stretching, lying down exercises, mantra and meditation are taught in this system. With regular practice it is possible to effect a profound long term change, and the student is left feeling more centred, more connected and more in touch with their body and mind. At the advanced level, it is possible to awaken latent abilities. When the need arises, the student will receive healing during the class.
Physical Benefits
Qigong combines slow, coordinated movements and breathing with quiet mental focus. The exercises are often described as a moving meditation. Mind and body work together as one. Based on Tai Chi, Taijiwuxigong aims to build energy for health and wellbeing. ‘Spontaneous Movement’ helps return mind and body to natural balance and support good health. People often notice a beneficial effect on creative pursuits, martial arts and other sporting activities. By the end of a class students comment on feeling lighter, brighter and more relaxed.
Classes focus on relaxing and gentle stretching and improving body posture. The slow, mindful movements help people connect with their bodies and relax their minds. This often results in a reduction in pain and stress. The easy-to-learn exercises can help at all stages of life. Many health issues, physical and emotional, including chronic problems, improve. The immune system and healing are supported by this work.

“I feel extremely lucky to have Poh-Eng as my teacher over the last six months. I've benefited hugely on a number of levels; long term physical issues have resolved (relating to old injuries), I have improved circulation and I feel a lot lighter and more grounded. Having worked with this system for a number of years, I've felt new levels of progress become easily accessible through Poh-Eng's guidance. I have learned new ways of working with alignment, mobilising joints and moving energy through the body. Poh-Eng shares a wealth of experience and knowledge in her classes, and also as a highly skilled Buqi therapist."

Dr Shen's Taijiwuxigong system
Taijiwuxigong is a simplified form of Taiji and was developed by Dr. Shen Hongxun, Taiji Grandmaster and Buddhist Lama. Taiji-wuxigong was selected the best Qi Gong system for health in China in the 1990’s. Dr Shen used his deep knowledge of Tai Chi and Western and Chinese medicine, to create a set of safe, simple exercises to deal with modern health issues caused by stress, poor posture and inactivity.
The classes will help you clear energetic channels by activating the dan tian. This allows earth force into the body and awakens the whole energetic system resulting in muscular relaxation and suppleness throughout the body. Learning to activate the dan tian through correct posture is the bodies natural way of regulating and balancing the body. Developing a quiet mind, becoming more grounded, content and present. A class offers shared experiences and is a fun, social place to learn. Exercises can be tailored to personal needs.
Poh-Eng is an accredited qi gong teacher by the late Dr. Shen with over 23 years teaching experience.

"I have been studying Qi Gong and Tai Chi for over 30 years (and also teaching) and have found Poh-Eng's classes invaluable. Poh-Eng is able to effectively teach both beginners and the more experienced simultaneously, enabling all to progress in the way they need to. She has enabled me to see new depths and levels to this powerful practice that I was previously unaware of, enabling changes in alignment, energy flow, as well as relieving long standing joint pains and generally helping me feel lighter and clearer on all levels'.
